Ruth M. Marten was born on October 18, 1924 in Wichita, KS to William & Lillian (Nelson) Mueller. She passed from this life on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010 at the Medicalodge of Clay Center, Clay Center, KS at the age of 85. Ruth was baptized and confirmed at Evangelic Lutheran Church of Wichita. She attended Vernon country school and graduated from Wichita High School East in the Class of 1942. Ruth worked as a Sr. draftsman at Boeing Airplane Co., Wichita Div before marrying Dalton C. Marten on November 26, 1944 and were married for 61 years when Dalton passed away on May 16, 2006. They lived in Winfield, Kansas until 1958 when they moved to Clay Center, Kansas. Ruth began sewing custom draperies. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women's Missionary League and Clay Center Library Club. In 1972 , they moved to Concordia, Kansas where Ruth worked for Dr Owensby and Dr Miller. Ruth was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church and the Women's Guild, The Atheneum Club and Concordia Country Club. Preceding her in death was her husband Dalton, her parents, and a brother, Paul Edward Mueller, who died in infancy. Survivors include: Four children: Albert Marten, San Antonio, TX; Linda Franson and husband Gailen, Clay Center, KS; William Otto Marten and wife, Colleen, Independence, MO and Neal Marten, Rotonda West, FL. Eight grandchildren, James Franson and wife Shelli, Angela Franson and husband Justin Dean, Holly Heidrick and husband Jeff, Sarah Marten, Dylan Marten, Sydney Marten, Chelsea Marten and Anna Marten. Six great-grand children, Isabella Meier, Nicholas Meier, Macy Franson, Hailey Franson, Caden Dean and Eli Dean. One brother: George Mueller and wife Bonnie of Wichita, KS. Two nephews, Randall and Scott Mueller along with their wives and children. Also survived by a brother-in-law, William Otto (Jack) Marten and wife Dolores, Helendale, CA and a sister-in-law, Helen Leimer, Augusta, KS and dearly loved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Tues, Sept. 7, 2010 at Concordia Lutheran Church with Rev. David Strommen officiating. Visitation will be from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM Mon. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Assoc. or the Ruth M. Marten memorial fund.
