Ruth Merrill, age 64, died Sat., Jan. 26, 2013 at her home in Concordia , KS . She was born on Oct. 9, 1948 in Colby , KS to Richard & Dorothy (Briney) Wegner. She married Gerald 'Billy Jack' Merrill on Oct. 14, 1970 at Concordia. Ruth worked as a cook at Cloud County Community College and then later as a corrections officer for the Cloud County Sheriff's office. Ruth is survived by her daughter Tonya Merrill, Concordia; brothers, Rick Wegner and family, Mulberry, Robert Wegner and family, Beloit & Raymond Wegner & family, Ft. Scott; sister, Rose Sumpter and family, Beloit & brother in law, Larry Merrill and family, Glasco. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald on March 22, 1994, mother, brother, Ronnie Wegner & parents in law, Marvin & Bertha Merrill. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Tues., Jan. 29, 2013 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Burial will follow the services at Nelson Center Cemetery , Huscher. Visitation will be from 11 am to 9 pm with a Rosary at 6:30 pm and family greeting friends from 7-8 pm Mon., Jan. 28, 2013 all at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to help defray Ruth's medical costs in care of the funeral home.
