Joan Johnson, age 86, of Concordia, KS, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 surrounded by her family at Sunset Nursing Home.  She was born on August 4, 1938, in Concordia, KS to Joseph Earl and Selma Emma Laura (Fritze) Hoover.

She graduated from Concordia High School in 1956. Joan married Jerome K Johnson on September 16, 1956, at the Presbyterian Church in Concordia, KS. From this union, Deanna, Kenneth, Brenda, and Rhonda were born.

In her family's earlier years, Joan worked as a homemaker, and a farm wife. Later, she worked at J.C. Penney in Concordia.

She was a member of the Huscher United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and Social Order of the Beauceant.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, sewing, baking, and taking care of her family. She was happiest when spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her husband, Jerome, Concordia, KS and children: Deanna Leon (Stuart), Surprise, AZ; Kenneth Johnson, Concordia, KS; Brenda Johnson (Michael), Salina, KS; and Rhonda Ailslieger (Kristafer), Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Joshua Leon (Susan), Sarah Kilpatrick (Troy), Stacy Duis (Jeremy), Michelle McKittrick (Jake), Katie Whitley (Levi), Emily Black (Colton), Ryan Johnson, Megan Johnson, Lauren Ailslieger, Morgan Ailslieger, Braden Ailslieger and 20 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, KS with Pastor Al Paredes officiating.  Burial will follow at the Nelson Center Cemetery, Huscher, KS.  Visitation will be on Monday, March 17, 2025, from 1-8 pm with the family receiving friends from 6-8 pm at the funeral home.
