Samuel Ray Horn, 64 years of age, of Clyde, passed away on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on July 10, 1962, in Marion, Indiana, the youngest of four children born to David Elsworth and Betty Jane (Rodman) Horn.

Samuel lost his father at an early age in 1968, leaving his mother to care for the children. Betty passed away in 1981. Samuel’s siblings have since passed as well, but he has nieces and nephews, all of whom live on the East Coast and loved him dearly. They expressed many times how much they loved him and wished they could have been near him to show their support.

Sam was a wonderful man. He was funny, silly, ornery, crazy, sweet, lovable, and very stubborn. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Sam loved working on plastic canvas. With the canvas, he made small buildings, including a Christmas village and a reindeer stable. It was a fun hobby that he and Mary enjoyed doing together. Sam also loved to garden. He especially enjoyed growing tomatoes, sweet corn, potatoes, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, okra, zucchini, and several other vegetables.

In the mornings, Sam loved having coffee with his friends, where they would tell stories and talk for a while.

Samuel and Mary were united in marriage on June 16, 2023. He and Mary shared a special bond, and he helped her in more ways than he will ever know.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jayne Horn; nieces and nephews, Missy Horn of Denton, NC; Michelle Bowman Croom of NC; Brandi Bowman of NC; Phillip Horn of NC; Brittany Horn of NC; and Drew Horn of NC; along with many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sam will be remembered for his kind heart, his humor, his stubborn spirit, and the special memories he created with those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the Clyde Grade School Apartments (auditorium), Clyde, Kansas with Pastor Darin Fahey officiating.
