Shirley A. Laman-Hobbie, age 83, died Sat., May 18, 2013 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia. She was born on Nov. 11, 1929 in Albuquerque, NM to Charles & Beatrice (Gardner) Fisk and was later adopted by Lawrence Cook.

Shirley graduated from Concordia High School. She married John G. Laman on Feb. 20, 1948 in Concordia. He preceded her on Feb. 27, 1998. Shirley later married Carl D. Hobbie on Nov. 18, 2006 in Concordia and he preceded her on Nov. 19, 2011. Shirley was a farm wife before working 18 years as a clerical supervisor for SRS in Concordia. She also operated the Gordon Credit & Collection Bureau. Shirley was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Concordia.

Shirley is survived by her grandchildren, Benjamin Gordon, Topeka & Sarah Fleener & husband Jason, Gladstone, MO; great grandchildren, Bailey & Laci Fleener, Gladstone, MO & daughter in law, Deborah Pelter-Laman, Concordia.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John G. Laman & Carl D. Hobbie; son, John C. Laman & daughter, Joyce A. Gordon-Raske.

Shirley selected cremation with Memorial services on Thurs., May 23, 2013 at 10:30 am at Concordia Lutheran Church, Concordia with Rev. David Strommen officiating. Burial of the cremains will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Friends may sign the register book from 8 am to 5 pm on Wed., May 22, 2013 at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to the John C. Laman Scholarship Fund at Cloud County Community College in care of the funeral home.
