Obituary

Sidney "Sid" N. Chartier was born on February 19, 1928 in Rural Ames, KS to Peary & Reva (Liby) Chartier. He passed from this life on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 at the Minneapolis Hospital, Minneapolis, KS at the age of 82. Sid graduated from Concordia High School. He then joined the US Marine Corps. and served in the Philippines & Hawaii before returning stateside. Sid married Anita R. Stanton on Dec. 16, 1949 at Pleasant View Methodist Church in Rural Washington Co., KS. Sid was a mail carrier for the USPS for 32 years until his retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, American Legion Post #76, VFW Post #588, former ELKS Club & Moose Lodge #1428. Sid was a longtime Boy Scout Leader for Troop 31. He and Anita were members of the Midway Antique Car Club & the Family Campers & RVer's Club, Drifting Clouds Chapter. He is survived by his wife: Anita R. Chartier, Concordia, KS; son: Barry Chartier, Salt Lake City, UT; daughter: Gwendolyn Tyler & husband Robert, Winfield, KS; sisters: Melba Geisler & husband Ken, Rockport, TX & Berna Gable & husband Art, Salina, KS & 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family choose cremation and Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Concordia with Rev. Sandra K. Moore officiating. Friends may sign the register book from 1-8 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-7 PM Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the First United Methodist Church or the Alzheimer's Assoc.
