Sister Mary Flora Barrette passed away from this life on August 19, 2007 at Mount Joseph Senior Community, Concordia, KS at the age of 90. She was born February 3, 1917 to Ulric and Mary DeAmie Barrette, the fifth of ten children, and was baptized Dorothy Lillian. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, KS on AUgust 1, 1934. On March 19, 1936 and final vows on August 15, 1939. Sister Mary Flora was housekeeper and music teacher in convents of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Herington, Leoville, Damar, Salina, Junction City, Concordia, New Almelo, Gorham, Pfeifer, and Colby in Kansas and Monette, MO, Silver City NM, Lake Linden, MI, and Aurora and St. George, IL. From 1988 until she retired to Grand Island, NE in 1991, she cared for the elderly and home bound. IN 1999, Sister Mary Flora retired to the Motherhouse and in 2004 she moved to Mt. Joseph Senior Community in Concordia, KS. She is survived by her brother, Donald Barrette. She was preceded in death be her parents, two sisters, six brothers. A Bible Vigil will be at 7:00PM Wednesday, August 22, 2007, in the Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel with Sister Barbara Bader as the Eulogist. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30AM, Thursday at Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel with Father Jack Schlaf presiding. Burial will be in Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery, Concordia, KS. Memorials may be given to Sisters of St. Joseph Health Care/ Retirement Fund or the Apostolic Works for the Sisters.
