Sister Colleen Stover died February 14, 2009, at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, KS. She was 72 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 48 years. She was born in Beloit, KS on January 9, 1937 to Paul and Marie Grennan Stover, the third of five children, and was baptized Colleen Ann. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, KS. on September 8, 1959. On March 19, 1960, Colleen received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Paul Mary. Later, she went back to her baptismal name Colleen. She pronounced first vows on March 19, 1961 and final vows on March 19, 1966. Sister Colleen received a B.A. in speech and drama from Marymount College, Salina and an M.A. in education and English from University of Detroit, Detroit, MI. From 1962 to 1984 she taught in schools staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph in Concordia, Manhattan, Junction City and Salina, KS. From 1985 to 1992, Sister Colleen worked with the St. John's Youth Dependency Program in Salina. In 1993, she cared for her parents in Beloit until she retired to the Motherhouse in 1999. Sister Colleen moved to Mt. Joseph Senior Village in 2004. Sister Colleen was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ellen Truex, Dolores Eck, Jane Morch and Sister Beth Stover. A Bible Vigil Service will be (was) held February 15, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel with Sister Janice Koelzer as the eulogist. The Mass of Christian Burial will be (was) February 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel Father James Grennan presiding, Father Larry Grennan and Father Jack Schlaf concelebrants. The burial will be in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery. Chaput-Buoy Mortuary, 325 W. 6 ^th St., Concordia, KS is in charge of arrangements.
