Sister Amadeus Aubin died Jan. 18, 2007 at Cloud County Health Center in Concordia, KS. She was 90 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 73 years. She was born in Lake Linden, MI on Sept. 6, 1916 to Joseph and Marie Richard Aubin, the second of five children, and was baptized Leona. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, KS on July 30, 1932. On March 20, 1933, Leona recieved the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Amadeus. She pronounced first vows on Aug. 15, 1934 and final vows on Dec. 27, 1937.
Sister Amadeus recieved a BA in education from Marymount College, Salina. She taught in elementary schools staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph in St. Peter, Antonino, Damar, Park, Cawker City, Gorham, Beloit, Sequin and Abilene, KS and in Silver City, NM. In 1993, Sister Amadeus retired to the Motherhouse.
Sister Amadeus was preceded in death by her parents, on brother and two sisters. She is surived by her sister, Corinne Pavlin. A bible vigil service will be held Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 at 7 pm in the Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel with Sister Liberata Pellerin as the eulogist. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, Jan. 22, 2007 at 10:30 am in the Motherhouse Chapel with Fr. Frank Schlaf presiding. The burial will be in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery.
