Obituary

Sister Ann Loretta Moore died on February 23, 2009, at Mount Joseph Senior Village in Concordia, KS. She was 98 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 78 years. She was born in Monett, MO on August 14, 1910 to John and Frances Koenig Moore, the sixth of nine children, and was baptized Lucille Ann. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, KS. on May 24, 1929. On August 15, 1930, Lucille Ann received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Ann Loretta. She pronounced first vows on August 15, 1932 and final vows on August 15, 1935. Sister Ann Loretta took State Boards and became a registered nurse in 1935. She worked in hospitals staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph in Concordia, Sabetha, Atwood, and Manhattan, KS and in El Paso, TX and Belvidere, IL. In 1978 she retired to Hillside Convent in Concordia and in 1992 to Nazareth Motherhouse. She moved to Mount Joseph Senior Village in 2004. Sister Ann Loretta was preceded in death by her parents and her eight siblings. A Bible Vigil Service will be (was) held February 25, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel with Sister Norma Schlick as the eulogist. The Mass of Christian Burial will be (was) February 26, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel with Rev. Jack Schlaf presiding. The burial will be in the Nazareth Motherhouse Cemetery. Chaput-Buoy Mortuary, 325 W. 6th St., Concordia, KS is in charge of arrangements. Memorials for Sister Ann Loretta Moore may be given to the Sisters of St. Joseph Health Care/ Retirement Fund or the Apostolic Works of the Sisters; P.O Box 279, Concordia, KS 66901.
