Stanley A. Grounds, age 83, died Mon., Sept. 8, 2014 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia. He was born on Dec. 14, 1930 in Glasco, KS to Chester A. & Guelda (Litherland) Grounds.

Stanley graduated from Concordia High School and later El Camino C.C. in Torrance, CA. He served as an Airman 1 ^st Class in the US Air Force from 1949-1953. He married Rosalie Houghton on Aug. 15, 1954 near Jamestown, KS. He worked for McDonnell Douglas at Santa Monica, CA as an Quality Assurance (Q&A) Electronics Inspector. They lived in Torrance, CA until his retirement in 1996 when they returned to Concordia. Stanley was a member of the 1 ^st United Methodist Church, Moose Lodge #1428 & life members of American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588, all of Concordia.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie, Concordia; son, Kenneth (Sandra) Grounds, Hillsboro, OR; daughters, Beth Spataro, Chantilly, VA & Patricia Grounds, Concordia; brother, Sheldon (Donna) Grounds, Parsons; sister, Esther (Armand) Naillieux, Concordia; grandchildren, Lisa & Laura Spataro, Matthew & Mark Grounds & Alexis Sparrow & great grandchild, Kaylee Grounds.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Wayne & John Grounds & sisters, Leila Keim, Ada Smith & Joyce Thoman.

The family selected cremation and Memorial services will be 2 pm, Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Private family burial will be at Glasco Cemetery. Friends may sign the register book from 8 am to 5 pm Wed. and the family will greet friends for an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Mt. Joseph Senior Village or Alzheimer's Assoc. in care of the funeral home.
