Stanley C. Ostrom was born in the Gotland Community, Cloud Co., Kansas to Joseph H. and Della M. (Ganstrom) Ostrom. He passed from this life on Wed., Feb. 18, 2009 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia, KS at the age of 87. Stanley attended the Gotland school and graduated from Concordia High School in 1938. He served as a staff sergeant in the US Army Air Corps, 43rd Air Supply Squadron in Germany. Stanley married Mabel M. Johnson on Aug. 29, 1947. They celebrated their 61st anniversary this past August. Stanley farmed in the Gotland & Hollis communities until 1993. He also planted shelter belts for the Soil Conservation service in Cloud County and was a hay broker for many years. Stanley was a member of The Baptist Church of Concordia where he served on several boards, including the Deacons, Trustees, served as an usher and on the Welcome Committee. He is survived by his wife, Mabel Ostrom, Concordia, KS; a daughter, Janice Ostrom, Salina, KS; a daughter in law, Patrica Ostrom, Salina, KS; a grandson, Joseph Ostrom, Salina, KS; a brother: Warren Ostrom & wife Dorothy, Concordia, KS & several other relatives & friends. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis in 1991; his parents; sister, Dora Hayden & husband Todd; sister in law, Faith Johnson; nieces, Carolyn Hayden and Connie Hayden Harrington. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at The Baptist Church with Pastor David Fabarez and Dr. Warren S. Freeborn, Jr. officiating. A private family burial at the Gotland Cemetery, Concordia will occur prior to the memorial services. Visitation will be held from 2-8 PM with the family receiving friends from 6-7:30 PM, Sunday, Feb. 22, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to The Baptist Church or the Donor's choice.
