V. Frances Burdick was born on Sept. 26, 1921 in Jamestown, KS to Earl & Anna (Smith) Gray. She passed from this life on Oct. 16, 2010 at Marquis Place, Concordia, KS at the age of 89. Frances graduated from Jamestown High School. She married Hiram Burdick on June 22, 1940 in Jamestown, KS. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 2005. Frances worked in the grocery store in Jamestown until she and Hiram moved to Clyde, KS, where she worked at Ideal Market for over 20 years until her retirement, along with being a farm wife. Frances was a member of the Clyde United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, E.H.U. and a member of the former Lydia Circle. Frances was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing, quilting & all types of needlework. She is survived by her son: Dennis Burdick & wife Janice, Clyde, KS; daughter: Karen Johnson & husband Darryl, Minnetonka, MN; 5 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hiram, parents, brother, Robert Gray & sister, Julia Burton. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Wed., Oct. 20, 2010 at the United Methodist Church, Clyde, KS with Rev. Anita Strommen officiating. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 8 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-7 PM, Tues., Oct. 19, 2010 at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, KS. Burial will follow the services at the Jamestown Cemetery, Jamestown, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Marquis Place in care of the funeral home.
