Velda M. Douglas was born on January 7, 1931 in Clyde, KS to Oscar H. & Mary M. (Fuller) Cranmer. She passed from this life on Friday, Dec. 11, 2009 at Clay County Hospital, Clay Center, KS at the age of 78. Velda graduated from Clyde High School. She married Kenneth Douglas on Dec. 7, 1949 at Concordia, KS. He preceded her on Nov. 2, 1982. Velda was a homemaker & then worked as a waitress before working as a clerk at the Clyde IGA and Boogaarts. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Clyde. She is survived by her daughters: Dala Eisenman & husband James, Clay Center, KS, Kennie Smith & husband Robert, Delphos, KS & Kelly Fleming & husband Jeff, Clay Center, KS; brothers: Ralph Cranmer & wife JoAnn, Clyde, KS, William Cranmer & wife Pennie, Clay Center, KS & Kenneth Cranmer & wife Cindy, Orlando, FL; sisters: Sue Hedberg, Clay Center, KS, Judy Morgison & husband Gary, Clay Center, KS & Patricia Eye & husband Leonard, Clay Center, KS; 10 grandchildren & 7 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; sons, David & Charles Douglas; daughter, Sandra Douglas; parents; 2 brothers & 3 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at the United Methodist Church, Clyde with Rev. Anita Strommen officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-8 PM with the family greeting friends from 2-4 PM, Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009 at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. Burial will follow the services at Mount Hope Cemetery, Clyde. The family suggests memorials to Meadowlark Hospice or Park Villa Nursing Home in care of the funeral home.
