Verna Mae Trost was born on July 28, 1926 in Holyrood, KS to Henry, Sr. & Anna (Reentz) Nagel. She passed from this life on Friday, January 2, 2009 at Cloud County Health Center, Concordia at the age of 82. Verna graduated from Holyrood High School. She married Carl R. Trost on Feb. 20, 1946 in Kanorado, KS. He preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 2007. She was a homemaker and farm wife in the Huscher area. Verna was a member of the Huscher United Methodist Church, where she served as the Sunday School Treasurer for several years, along with various other church duties. She also was a member of the United Methodist Women, Good Neighbor's Club & Christian Women's Club. She served as a 4-H Leader and Youth Group Sponsor. Verna and Carl took numerous missionary work trips to Honduras and Arizona for 20 years. She is survived by son: Eldon Trost & wife Tana, Belleville, KS; daughter: Kathy Mitchell & husband Jack, Concordia, KS; son: Bruce Trost & wife Susan, Concordia, KS; daughters: Jeannie Buss & husband Rev. Larry, Council Grove, KS & Sandy Boeschling & husband Gailyn, Clay Center, KS; brother: Henry Nagel, Jr., Kanorado, KS; sisters: Helen Rife, Castle Rock, CO & Dorothy Evans, Littleton, CO; brother in laws: Jim Cluff, San Diego, CA & L.M. "Jack" Maggard, Trophy Club, TX; sister in laws: Lois Duewell, Concordia, KS, ImogeneTrost, Concordia, KS & Vi Trost, Hesston, KS; 15 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren & a host of nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; son, Curtis Andrew Trost; parents; granddaughter, Andrea Buss; 4 brothers & 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at Huscher United Methodist Church, Huscher, KS with Rev. L. Dean Thompson and Rev. Larry Buss officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-8 PM, Tues, January 6, 2009 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Nelson Center Cemetery, Huscher, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Huscher United Methodist Church, World Gospel Mission or Youthville.
