Vila C. Garrison was born on June 18, 1911 in Cloud County, KS to Samuel and Bessie Hughes Bonebrake. She passed from this life on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS at the age of 97. O n June 18, 1931, she married Bayard Garrison at Miltonvale, KS. After their marriage, they farmed south of Concordia in Center Township for over 40 years, retiring in 1976. They remained in their farm home until 1991, when they moved to Concordia. Vila enjoyed being a homemaker. She was an excellent gardener and continued with this hobby until recent years, when her health would no longer allow it. She also was a talented seamstress and often designed and made clothing for herself and her daughters. Vila was a member of the New Hope Church, south of Concordia, the Concordia Wesleyan Church and the Ladies Prayer Group of the church. For many years she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and helped with numerous other church activities. She loved her church and attended faithfully until failing health curtailed these activities. She leaves to cherish her memory, and to be influenced by her victorious living, two daughters, Ava Boll of Concordia and Rita Moncrief and husband Monte of Springfield, Louisiana; a sister, Edrie Lee Powell of Glen Arms, Maryland; four granddaughters, Becky Call and husband Glen of Austin, Texas, Brenda Boll of Concordia, Debra Neill Baker and husband Michael of Springfield, Louisiana and Dawnel LeBlanc and husband Don Paul of Madisonville, Louisiana; five great grandchildren, Kevin Claridge, Brian Claridge, Garrison Neill, Paris Neill and Hillary Call; three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bayard in 1997; her parents; 3 brothers; 3 half-brothers and 4 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Mon., Oct. 6, 2008 at the Wesleyan Church, Concordia, KS. Visitation will be held from 2-9 PM with the family greeting friends from 6-7 PM Sun., Oct. 5, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. The family suggests memorials to the Wesleyan Church Building Fund or the donor's choice.
