Obituary

Walter M. Scott was born on Nov. 21, 1915 on a farm south of Concordia, KS.  The son of Frank & Myrtle (Fudge) Scott.  He was raised in Cloud County and graduated from Concordia High School in 1935.  Following high school he worked on the farm with his dad and also a ranch in Colorado.  He later joined the Navy and graduated from the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps School on June 18, 1942.  He served overseas on a LST 377 ship as a medic.  After the war he went to Denver, CO and attended Capital College of Pharmacy and received his diploma on Jan. 23, 1948.  He then worked at Palmquist Drug Store in Concordia, KS and Superior, Nebraska.  He later went to work for Beech Aircraft in Wichita, KS as an inspector.  He then purchased a Ben Franklin store in South Hutchinson that he operated until his retirement.  He married Priscilla Forque on Sept. 22, 1947 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 10, 1968.  He married Enda Cole in Aug. of 1971 and she preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 2005.  Walter was very active in the Lion's Club where he was a 50 year member with perfect attendance.  He also was a life member of VFW Post #588, Concordia.  He truly enjoyed being with people and helping in any way he could.  Survivors include: Step-son: Bill Cole & wife Julie, Green Bay, WI;  3 Step-Grandchildren; Step-Great Grandchildren and several nieces, nephews & friends.  He was preceded in death by: wives; Priscilla Forque Scott & Edna Scott; parents; brothers-Lee, Raymond and Virgil Scott; sisters-Florence Swenson and Edith Sundquist.  Services will be at 2:00PM Monday, February 11, 2008 at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. L. Dean Thompson officiating.  Visitation will be from 2PM to 9PM Sunday, February 10, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors by the Navy.  The family suggests memorials to Harry Hines Hospice or Lions Club.
