Wanda Lee Istas was born on February 15, 1931 in Ashland, KS to Fay & Gladys (Durham) Cline. She passed from this life on Friday, Dec. 5, 2008 at Forrest Manor Nursing Home in Dewey, OK at the age of 77. She graduated from Ashland High School. She married Edgar Kalivoda and they lived and farmed in Republic county until 1963 when they moved to Concordia. Wanda worked at various restaurants in Concordia and spent the last 35 years working at the Cloud County Health Center until April 2008. She later married Bernard "Barney" Istas on Dec. 27, 1982. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1994. She was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Belleville, KS. The family wants to extend their gratitude to all those who have assisted and cared for Wanda these last few months. She is survived by her daughters, Marla Jorgensen, Bartlesville, OK & Anita Williams, La Costa, CA; a son, Lee Kalivoda & wife Elaine, Medina, MN; a brother, Eldo Cline, Bella Vista, AR; a sister, Aladine Watson, Ashland, KS; special friend, Ryland Hamilton, Concordia, KS; & 9 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard "Barney" Istas; parents; a brother-Harold Cline; & sisters- Lenora & Ernestine Joy Cline. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Burial will follow the services at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia. Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 9 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM Thurs., Dec. 11, 2008 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. The family suggests memorials to the Cloud County Health Center Foundation.
