Obituary
Warren S. Freeborn, Jr., MD, age 91, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 near Ames, Kansas. He was born April 11, 1926 near Aurora, Kansas, to Warren S. Freeborn, Sr. and Pearl Ida (Regnier) Freeborn.
He was a graduate of Miltonvale Wesleyan Academy. He received his Doctor of Medicine from Indiana University. He and his first wife, Jane, were in the Congo where they served as Medical Missionaries. He practiced medicine in Indiana and opened his first practice in Clyde, Kansas in 1965, serving for a total of 39 years. He dearly loved his patients.
He was a member of The Baptist Church where he served as a minister to senior adults. He also served as a Sunday School teacher, deacon, and elder.
Warren was an avid hunter, golfer, and photographer. He enjoyed collegiate sports, boating, and most of all the time spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Warren married Joann L. Droge on July 5, 1969 near Bern, Kansas. They were united in marriage for 48 years and 8 months.
Warren is survived by his wife, Joann L. Freeborn, Concordia, KS; daughter, Susan Sillin, Sterling, KS; son, Robert Freeborn, Lindsborg, KS; daughter, Catherine Knapp (Curtis), Seneca, KS; son, Joseph Freeborn (Rebecca), Concordia, KS; 18 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and one on the way.
He was preceded in death by Jane, his first wife of nineteen years, his parents, and granddaughter, Hannah Freeborn.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas. The visitation will then be moved to The Baptist Church, 7
th
and Cedar, Concordia, Kansas, on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, lower level of Church. Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at The Baptist Church.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at The Baptist Church, Concordia, Kansas, with Pastor Jonathan Peppers officiating.
Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery east of Concordia, Kansas.
Memorial contributions may be given to The Baptist Church in c/o Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
