Obituary

Wendell D. Ryser was born on Jan. 31, 1947 in Concordia, KS to Edward & Ruth (Ryser) Ryser. He passed from this life on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 at his home in Clyde, KS at the age of 63. Wendell attended Dist. 59 grade school at Ames, KS and graduated from Clyde High School. Wendell served as a sergeant in the US Army during Vietnam. He married Donna Marcotte on Aug. 18, 1973 in Clyde, KS. Wendell was an assembly welder for Alstom Power & Air Preheater for 34 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #7515, Clyde, where he was currently serving as the Post Commander. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #227, Clifton, KS. Wendell was a member of the national Harley Davidson Owners Group, known as H.O.G. and he was an avid motorcycle rider and enthusiast. Wendell loved all KU sports and was an avid Royals fan. He is survived by his wife: Donna Ryser, Clyde, KS; daughter: Jennifer Taylor & husband Travis, Concordia, KS; sons: Jeremy Ryser & wife Janette & their children, Regan, Ava & Owen, Simsbury, CT, Eddie Ryser & wife Ashley & their child, Ethan, Topeka, KS & Troy Ryser & wife Caitlan, Clyde, KS; brothers: Dale Ryser, Concordia, KS, Mark Ryser, Spanaway, WA & Ted Ryser & wife Jane, Clyde, KS; sisters: Linda Hammans & husband John, Augusta, KS, Kay Friend & husband Buck, Clay Center, NE, Rita Conn & husband Darrel, Asherville, KS, Melody Hanchett & husband Leland, Phillipsburg, KS & Lisa Koch, Manhattan, KS. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Karla Cauley. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Mon., Oct. 25, 2010 at the Ames School House in Ames, KS with Rev. Dean R. Frazier officiating. Visitation will be held from 1-8 PM, Sunday, Oct. 24, 2010 at the Chaput Mortuary, Clyde. Burial will follow the services at the Hawks Cemetery, Rural Cuba, KS with Military Honors conducted by VFW Post #7515 & American Legion Post #227. The family suggests memorials to the VFW Post #7515, Clyde in care of the funeral home.
