William E. "Bill" Key was born on Jan. 25, 1923 in Jamestown, KS to Lewis & Olive (Mosher) Key. He passed from this life on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center, Minneapolis, KS at the age of 86. Bill, as he was known, served in the US Army in the Korean War as a sergeant. He married Nancy M. Thompson in April 1952 in Lebanon, MO. She preceded him in death on July 14, 1988. Bill was a truck & taxi driver. He was a member of the American Legion & D.A.V. Bill enjoyed playing bingo. He is survived by his beloved friend & companion of 10 years: Alma Skocny, Cuba, KS; sons: John Key & wife Gevine, Belleville, KS & Wayne Key & wife Becky, Concordia, KS; daughter: Karen Sissel & husband Danny, Highlandville, MO; sisters: Doreen Garlow, Denver, CO & Leota Lundblade, Denver, CO; 6 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; Alma's children: Renus & Donna Strait; Jim & Sherry Persinger; Tom & Paula Akin; Connie Dutton; Marty & Niki Skocny; Randy & Carolyn Skocny; Steven & Rae Skocny; Gary & Jackie Jeardoe; Andy & Denise Torrey; Alma's 28 grandchildren & 32 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy M. (Thompson) Key; parents; sisters, Birdie Senner, Eloise Rodgers, Leta Wright & Audre Dazzio & brother, Melford Key. It was Bill's wishes to be cremated & memorial graveside services will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Morrison Cemetery, SW of Concordia, KS with Pastor Melvin Waylan officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post #345, Cuba, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Minneapolis Good Samaritan Center or the Donor's Choice. Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia is in charge of arrangements.
