William Joseph Pearce was born on June 29, 1916 in Oak Hill, Kansas to H.E. and Elizabeth M. Sampson Pearce. He passed from this life on Friday, August 10, 2007 at Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, Kansas at the age of 91. He graduated from Miltonvale High School in 1935. He married Ruth Adam in January 1947 at Aurora, Kansas. She survives the home. They lived in the St. Joseph, Kansas area most of their lives. He worked for Hutchinson Manufacturing in Clay Center until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He is survived by his wife, Ruth; sons, Stan Pearce and wife Judy, Cherokee, KS, Stephen Pearce and wife Polly, Wells, KS and Scott Pearce, Park City, KS; daughters, Sandra Lyne and Hus. LeRoy, Oak Hill, KS, Sheryl Flesher, Manhattan, KS, Susan Schmidt and Hus. Jim, Elk City, OK, Shelley Shivers and Hus. William, Morganville, KS and Sharon Pearce, Plano, TX; sister, Mattie Dunn, Alturas, CA; 16 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Glen Pearce and a sister, Iris Beyer. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Chaput Mortuary, Clyde, KS with Rev. Larry Letourneau officiating. Visitation will held from 12 PM to 8 PM with the family greeting friends from 7-8 PM, Monday, August 13, 2007 at Chaput Mortuary. Burial will follow the services at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, St. Joseph, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Clyde Ambulance Fund.
