Wilma Jean Hopkins Thoman was born December 23, 1926 to Walter I. and Josephine Hubert Bowling. She passed away from this life on September 23, 2007 at Cheyenne Lodge Nursing Home at the age of 80. She graduated from Concordia High School in 1944 and from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Kansas City in 1947. She married Arthur A. Hopkins on August 7, 1948 in Kansas City. He preceded her in death in 1983. She married Ted Thoman on July 20, 2000 in Concordia. She retired from St. Joseph's Hospital in Concordia, KS in 1992 after 40 years of service. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, the Baptist Church, EHU of Buffalo Township, the Jolly Mixers, and was a past member of the Cloud County Genealogy Society. She was also a Boy Scout Den Mother and Troop leader for the Girl Scouts and Bluebirds. She is survived by her husband Ted Thoman, of the home, Sons: Brad Hopkins & wife Joy, Concordia, KS; Kent Hopkins & wife Sheri, Garnett, KS; Daughters: Karen Strait & hus Bill, Salina, KS; Jana Hoffman, of Minneapolis, KS; Lisa Melhus, Minneapolis, KS; Tina Huff & hus Danny, Concordia, KS; Son-in-law: Chuck Speilman, Hermitage, MO; Step-Son: Dennis Thoman, Moundridge, KS; Step-Son: Lowell Thoman & wife Mary Lisa, Concordia, KS; Step-Son: Greg Thoman & wife Kathy, Jamestown, KS; Step-Daughter: Lisa Mosher & hus Steve, Clyde, KS; Grandchildren: 18; Step-Grandchildren: 7; Great Grandchildren: 25; several Step-Great Granchildren. She was preceded in death by her f irst husband- Arthur A. Hopkins; sister- Theresa Garwood; brother- Lawrence Bowling; daughter- Rita Speilman; and son-in-law- Joe Melhus. Services will be at 10 AM on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at The Baptist Church with the Rev. David Fabarez, officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6 PM to 8 PM. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS. Memorials may be made to the Solomon Valley Hospice, Cheyenne Lodge Nursing Home, or The Baptist Church.
